I’ve bought the license key, but World Traveler is not activated. What do I do?

Actually, you did not buy a license key, you bought a license. We use your phone's IMEI and register your purchase in our database with the license information.

In 99 percent of cases, once you have paid then all you have to do is open the application and it will begin working. You will not even see that the file has been downloaded. However, in some cases, if you are using a different browser, it may not begin working automatically.

In such cases—or if it appears that World Traveler is not working following payment—please go back to the plugin that you have just purchased. Then go to options and from here go to license and get license. Here you will see the license that you have just purchased with the subtag "restore" underneath it. You will not see and you do not need a license key. All you need to do is click on license/restore and it will begin working.

Again, if you run into a problem like this, please launch the application, got to the plug-in you have bought and choose Options>>License>>Get License and then select 'Restore'. If you are still experience problems, please contact support@psiloc.com and provide us with your phone’s IMEI number (to find this number, please enter this key combination into your phone: *#06#. As soon as we get this information, we will be able to help you with your problem.

I updated World Traveler to version 1.8 and after that the startup view changed. Now when I open the application I always face a list of World Traveler services, describing if the service is included to free or pro version of the application. How is this defined and when is this displayed on my application?

The list of free and pro services is displayed at the startup of the World Traveler application and is visible only if you do not have any valid premium World Traveler license.

Flight Assistant

What does Flight Assistant actually do?

Flight Assistant lets you search regular and low-cost airlines for flights, but it does much more than that: Flight Assistant combines the benefits of a flight search-and-selection utility, a tracking utility and a flight alert utility in a single plug-in. You can search, select, save and check for status changes of any flight in the world. If you set an alert on a flight, World Traveler will alert you if it is delayed, cancelled or its departure gate changes.

What is a Flight Alert?

A Flight Alert is the quickest way to check the status of your flight. Once you have found and selected your flight using Flight Assistant, you can then set a Flight Alert which will check on the status of your flight for you. If there is any change such as a delay, cancellation or gate change, World Traveler notifies you immediately of changes with an increasingly loud alert tone and a pop-up window with details of the change (flight delay, flight cancellation, gate change, etc.)

How do I add a Flight Alert?

When you have chosen a flight, create an alert by selecting Options; then scroll to Add to flight alerts from either the list of flights, or from the detailed flight summary; then select again for confirmation. Remember that you cannot create flight alerts for flights older than yesterday. If you do not see the option to Add to flight alerts please confirm the date of your flight. You may also add a flight alert from your list of saved flights. Simply select a saved flight (listed under Saved search results) in the main Flight Assistant window, select Options, from the options in the list select Create alert. You can create an alert for any flight until the date of expiry of your license.

Depending on your Access Point preferences, you may be asked whether you want to connect to the internet.

When you add a flight alert for an indirect flight, you are given the choice of tracking the flight from its point of origin or from any of the transfer points en route. Check the boxes on the left of the flight you wish to track and select Ok. Your flight alert is now added.

World Traveler offers the option of automatic or manual checking of flight alerts. For full functionality you must select automatic flight checking. Select Options and then scroll to Settings. You will see your present Flight alert update setting. Select your present setting (it will say either “automatic” or “manual”) to toggle between manual and automatic updates.

You will not receive any updates when the Flight alert update is set to Manual. This setting provides the option of checking for alerts whenever you wish. Automatic updates is the recommended setting because it enables World Traveler to periodically check for changes in the status of your flights and notifies you immediately of changes with an increasingly loud alert tone and a pop-up window with details of the change (flight delay, flight cancellation, gate change, etc.)

Will I receive Flight Alerts if my license expires on the day of departure?

Yes, your license continues to be valid for the full 24-hour day on which it expires relative to the location of your flights.

What is the difference between extending a license or renewing it?

Extending and renewing are practically the same. If your current license is still valid, you may extend it. if your license has expired you may renew it. In other words, if you have four days remaining and you purchase a 45-day license, then you have extended your license and now have 49 days of service. Otherwise, your new license is considered a renewal.

Is my payment for Flight Assistant secure?

Yes. Your card details will be sent via a secure, encrypted connection (SSL provided by Thawte, a VeriSign company) to PayPal for verification. We do not save your details in any way but you are given the option to keep your card number on your phone locked behind a password so you can buy licenses at any time without having your card in hand. Caution: If you enter the incorrect password three times, World Traveler security measures are implemented and your card details are erased. You will then have to re-enter your card details when you want to make a purchase.

What is a monthly subscription to Flight Assistant?

A monthly subscription to Flight Assistant is a payment and service option designed for maximum flexibility and convenience. When you begin a monthly subscription, World Traveler bills your credit card for EUR 3.95 and you can begin using Flight Assistant immediately. On the monthly anniversary of your subscription, World Traveler automatically renews your license and bills your credit card.

How much does a monthly subscription cost?

A monthly subscription costs EUR 3.95. An affordable and convenient option for those who desire uninterrupted service.

What is the difference between a subscription and a license?

When you purchase a subscription to Flight Assistant, your license renews automatically on the anniversary of your subscription until you cancel. But when you purchase a license, it will expire unless you manually renew it.

How do I cancel my subscription?

To cancel your subscription, send an email to support@psiloc.com with the word CANCEL in the subject heading and include the following details in the body of your message:

  • Your phone's IMEI number (enter *#06# on your phone)
  • The last four digits of the credit card number you used to purchase your subscription

That's all that is required. Your monthly subscription will be discontinued and one month after you were last billed your Flight Assistant service will expire.

Psiloc terms and conditions require you to cancel 15 days before your next renewal however in practical terms, cancellations will often proceed in 3 working days.

What is an IMEI number and where can I find it on my phone?

The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number can be displayed on most phones by dialing the code *# 06 # on your phone's keypad. Also, the IMEI is commonly printed on the compliance plate under your phone battery.

Travel Safe > Options > Reset Travel Safe > (Reset password and data?) Yes

For security reasons, if you lose your password you will not have access to any data stored in Travel Safe. Follow these steps to reset Travel Safe. WARNING: This step will delete all your data and reset the plug-in and allow you to enter a new password and enter data. Proceed only if you are sure you want to delete your data.

Select any of these buttons to enter your travel information.

Travel Safe locks itself when you exit to other plug–ins, exit World Traveler, or whenever your phone goes on standby.

Connect

What does Connect plug-in do?

Psiloc Connect makes that often frustrating process of connecting to the Internet in the way you want efficient and simple. You set your preferences once and unless your preferences change you don't have to set up anything again. The alternative is to create access points for each individual network that you want to use. If Connect plug-in saves you minutes per week it saves you hours per year. The minutes add up.

Why should I install Connect as the plug-in if I already have it as a standalone application?

If you already have Psiloc Connect as a standalone application you are entitled to the plug-in version for world Traveler for FREE. Connect enhances the functionality of World Traveler by bringing the ease of use and simplicity of the standalone application to the World Traveler open platform.

I already have Psiloc Connect installed as a standalone application. If I install the Connect plug-in will world Traveler recognise my license?

Yes. The plug-in version of Psiloc connect is compatible with the standalone version. After installation, your phone must be restarted for the plug-in and the standalone version to work correctly with each other.

After installing the plug-in and restarting your phone, you should open World Traveler and choose license from the options menu.

Options > License > Get License > Connect > Restore license

your Standalone Psiloc Connect license will now apply to your Connect plug-in for World Traveler.

What if I want to connect to my 3G/GSM network in an emergency but I don't want to change my preferences?

No problem. Launch the Connect plug-in connection wizard and you will have the option of connecting to available networks not selected in your preferences. This will not affect your preferences. To change your preferences you must run the Connect setup wizard.

How can I change my preferences?

Launch the Connect setup wizard.

How to uninstall the Connect plug-in access point?

Menu > Installations > App. Mgr. (Application Manager) > Psiloc Connect Traveler Plug-in > Options > Remove > Yes

The connect plug-in for World Traveler creates an access point which remains even if you uninstall World Traveler.

To remove the access point, select application manager, select Psiloc Connect Traveler Plug-in, select options, select remove, select Yes.

What happened to the Connect plug-in?

Psiloc Connect has now been replaced by the free version of WiFi Traveler. This will happen automatically as soon as you update World Traveler, but like Connect, WiFi Traveler makes that often frustrating process of connecting to the Internet in the way you want efficient and simple. Unfortunately, previous Connect subscribers, who are using Connect through the World Traveler platform will lose previously set preferences. Psiloc Connect lovers, who for some reason do not want to take advantage of WiFi Traveler and WiFi Traveler’s internationally-supported, premium, iPass supported version, can still subscribe to the older Psiloc connect available in the Psiloc shop.

WiFi Traveler

What does WiFi Traveler do?

First, the premium version of WiFi Traveler (currently EUR 9.95 per month) allows you to access WiFi hotspots world-wide (more than 150,000 WiFi hotspots available in more than 90 countries), thanks to the fact that it is powered by the leading U.S. corporate WiFi hotspot provider, iPass.

WiFi Traveler lets you do the following:

  • avoid high hotel and airport WiFi hotspot fees
  • save time on paying for hotspot access at airports and hotels
  • avoid high roaming internet roaming rates
  • enjoy fast, efficient internet connection through corporate-quality WiFi access.

However, WiFi Traveler also allows you to do everything you could do with World Traveler’s Connect plug-in. In short, it makes that often frustrating process of connecting to the Internet in the way you want efficient and simple. Just like with Connect, with the basic (free) WiFi Traveler you set your preferences once, and unless your preferences change you don't have to set up anything again. The alternative is to create access points for each individual network that you want to use, which is much more time-consuming.

Is WiFi Traveler a free plug-in?

Yes and no. The basic version is free, which is perfect for home hotpost/internet access needs. However, the premium version (EUR 9.95) allows take advantage of the more than 150,000 WiFi hotspots supported by iPass worldwide.

How do I install WiFi Traveler?

WiFi Traveler is now available as soon as you update or install the latest version of World Traveler. In order to access WiFi Traveler, go to applications, open World Traveler and check for updates under ‘options/plug-in manager. Here you will see either a new version of World Traveler to download, or if you have already downloaded the latest version, WiFi Traveler will appear as a separate, downloadable plug-in. Click on this and you will be requested to grant internet access, and upon granting this access World Traveler will be updated.

This gets you the free version of WiFi Traveler, and former Connect users can use this in lieu of Connect simply by opening WiFi Traveler in World Traveler, hitting “options” and going to “Connect.”

However, in order to take full advantage of WiFi Traveler—i.e. gain access to more than 150,000 WiFi hotspots worldwide—you must pay a monthly subscription fee of EUR 9.95.

Do I need to have an iPass account to use WiFi Traveler?

No. WiFi Traveler is iPass supported, but no registration/account information that is typically needed for an iPass corporate account is necessary. Simply pay the subscription fee, and worldwide WiFi hotspot access is yours.

Weather

What kind of information does the Weather plug-in show?

The Weather plug-in shows high and low temperatures and standard meteorological forecasts for the week, such as sunshine, rain, snow and cloud cover. The daily forecast also shows wind speed and barometric pressure.

How can I check the weather in my friend's city?

To check the weather in a friend's city you must Change My City in Options to the city of your choice. Select Options, select Change My City, enter your target country and city.

Why is the weather screen is sometimes gray?

If the screen is gray then you have not updated your weather data. This happens when you have just installed World Traveler but have not yet connected to the internet to update the weather forecast. This can also happen if you have set your updates to manual and your previous forecast is now out of date.

What is a Weather Report?

A Weather Report gives you a pop-up window showing the daily weather forecast for your current location. You can set a Weather Report to appear at time of the day. To set a Weather Report, in Weather settings, select Show weather report and enter a time for the report to be displayed.

When will I get Weather Report for today and when for tomorrow?

If you set World Traveler to give you a Weather Report in the morning, you will receive today's weather in the report. If you set World Traveler to give you a Weather Report after 6 p.m. in the evening, you will receive tomorrow's weather forecast.

Can you explain the symbols in the Weather plug-in?

The Weather plug-in works as follows: Once you open it, you will get a request to connect to the internet. Following this connection you will see a current five day forecast for your location. In the top left corner you will see the forecast high temperature for the day in degrees Celsius, and smaller, in gray, you will see the forecast low in Celsius, along with the predicted wind speed and barometric pressure reading. To the right you will see a “picture” or symbol that explains the forecast for the day.

Here are the symbol definitions:

A full sun means “sunny.” Three clouds with seven bars of “rain” mean “light rain.”
A sun with a small cloud means “clear or mostly sunny.” Three clouds with rain (no black in between the bars of rain) means ‘heavy rain.”
A sun with a blurry cloud at the bottom means “early fog, followed by sunny skies.” A sun covered by two clouds, rain and a lightning bolt means “scattered thunderstorms.”
A sun with clouds across the bottom means “partly cloudy or cloudy in the morning but sunnier skies in the afternoon.” Two clouds with rain and a lighting symbol mean “heavy thunderstorms.”
A sun with clouds across the top means “sunny in the morning, but partly cloudy or overcast in the afternoon.” Three clouds with rain and lightning bolt symbols mean “severe thunderstorms.”
A sun mostly obscured by clouds means “partly to mostly cloudy all day.” Three clouds with “hail balls” mean hail.
A cloud means “cloudy.” A swirl or tornado symbol means “tornados could be possible.”
A blurry cloud means “somewhat hazy or foggy.” A swirl, as seen from above means “hurricane, typhoon or tropical storm.”
A larger, blurry cloud means “very hazy or foggy with low visibility.” Two clouds with intermittent bars of rain and “hail balls” mean “mixed hail and rain.”
A blurry cloud with snowflakes means “snow and low visibility conditions.” Two clouds with snow symbols and bars of rain mean “freezing rain.”
A brown, swirling cloud means “dust storm.” Two clouds with five snowflakes mean “light or intermittent snow.”
A larger blurry cloud on the sun means “heavy fog in the morning, but sunny late.” Two clouds with seven snowflakes mean “snow.”

A moon with clouds across the bottom means ‘cloudy early in the evening, but a clear night late.” A sun crossed by two clouds and intermittent rain bars means “scattered showers during the day.”
A moon with clouds across the top means “clear early but cloudy later that night.” A moon crossed by two clouds and intermittent rain bars means “scattered showers during the night.”
A cloudy means means an “overcast night.” A moon crossed by two clouds and intermittent rain bars with a lightning bolt means “scattered thunderstorms during the day.”
Two clouds with seven bars of “rain” mean “light showers.”

At the bottom of the screen you will find the complete five-day forecast, consisting of such a symbol above a high temperature (in white) and a predicted low temperature (grayed out) underneath it. Once a day—but upon opening World Traveler and hitting the Weather plug-in—you will be asked whether you would like to connect to the internet in order to update the weather forecast for that day and week.

World Clock

How can I check the time in a friend's city?

World Clock, you can select any of the cities and change them to the city of your choice.

Currencies

Why can't I change my first currency value?

The top currency is set from your My City settings. This means that wherever you are, the top currency will be the one for your home location so you can always compare up to three other currencies to the currency you are most familiar with.

If, for any reason, you wish to compare four currencies at the same time, you can achieve this manually by going into settings and changing your My City location.

How many currencies can I check?

You can display up to four currencies at once. You can enter values in any of them and the others will automatically change. Currencies must be updated manually to get the latest rates. You can choose to have exchange rates updated daily, weekly or manually.

Where do the exchange rates come from?

The exchange rates are supplied by theFinancials.com and originate from 184 currency exchanges worldwide. The exchange rate you see is the daily closing value of the exchange nearest to your current location so you will always have the correct rates for where you are at any given moment.

Hotelzon

Why can’t I find a hotel using GPS search?

GPS search is only available with GPS equipped phones and requires an unobstructed view of the sky to function. If you have an AGPS supported phone, check that network assisted positioning is turned on:

Phone > Application settings > Positioning > Positioning methods

Be aware that GPS satellite signals cannot penetrate buildings. Storms and even overcast skies can also interfere with satellite signals. If you continue to experience difficulty Please use the Quick or Advanced search tool or try GPS search again when you have an unobstructed view of the sky.

Why can’t I find a hotel using Quick or Advanced search?

When you search, World Traveler will ask for permission to connect to the internet. Please select ok to continue. If no results are displayed one of the following circumstances may have occurred:

  • The hotels within your search criteria are fully booked. Please adjust your search criteria and try again.
  • Very rarely, the Hotelzon plug-in cannot receive availability information. Please retry the search in a minute.
  • In Advanced search, you should check that any optional text information you have entered is correct, for example hotel name and address. If you’re unsure of the spelling, simply leave the optional text information blank.
  • Local hotels may not have updated their availability for your target dates, Rarely, hotels may have deactivated the Hotelzon booking option. Also, certain hotels have a policy of only showing rooms as available if more than one night is requested.
Why do some hotels show prices in currencies other than the local currency?

Hotel room rates are most often displayed in the local currency (standard hotel booking practice) however this is entirely at the discretion of individual hotel partners. Please be advised that in certain countries, taxes and other fees may not be included in the listed price.

Travel Plan

What is Travel Plan and what does it do?

Travel Plan is a plug-in that allows you to plan your trip down to the finest detail and have it not only available on your mobile device, but also synchronized automatically with you with your mobile phone's calendar. Travel Plan also offers you the ability to set alarms in order to keep that business trip or vacation right on track.

Input fields include information slots for time, date and subject of an event. Travel Plan not only synchronizes this information with your calendar, but with other plug-in information as well, such as that from World Traveler's plug-in, Flight Assistant.

How do I get started with Travel Plan?

To start using Travel plan you have to create your trip. Do this as follows:

Travel plan > Add new trip > Enter trip name > input your trip name > Select trip item (Flights, Hotel, Trains, Car rental, Transport, Activity, meeting)

Please note that your trip will be saved in Travel plan only when you will create a trip item correctly with the start and end date.

In other words, first enter trip name like this:

Travel plan > Add new trip > Enter trip name > input your trip name > OK

Please remember, this is just the first step. The trip name will be saved only once you enter at least one item or “trip event” within that trip correctly with the start and end dates filled in.

To do this, select one of the trip items from the list that appears. The first item on the list is “Flight”, which is often a good place to start. If you are beginning your trip with a flight, press on “Flight”.

Travel plan > Add new trip > Enter trip name > input your trip name > OK > Select trip item > Flight

If you have valid Flight Assistant license you can add Flight details automatically using Flight Assistant plug-in. While doing so, all added flights will be saved in Flight Assistant plug-in as Flight Alerts and the same flight will automatically populate the Travel Plan Flight details.

If you do not have license for Flight Assistant, you can enter the flight details manually.

Now you can do the same with other trip items (Hotel, trains, Car rental, transport, Activity meeting).

However, remember to enter the dates for such items and then hit “done” to save them.

How do you create a trip?

To start using Travel plan you have to create your trip.

Travel plan > Add new trip > Enter trip name > input your trip name > Select trip item (Flights, Hotel, Trains, Car rental, Transport, Activity, meeting)

Please note that your trip will be saved in Travel plan only when you will create a trip item correctly with the start and end date.

If we look at it step, by step, first enter trip name like this:

Travel plan > Add new trip > Enter trip name > input your trip name > OK

Please remember, this is just the first step. The trip name will be saved only once you enter at least one item or “trip event” within that trip correctly with the start and end dates filled in.

To do this, select one of the trip items from the list that appears. The first item on the list is “Flight”, which is often a good place to start. If you are beginning your trip with a flight, press on FLIGHT.

How do I synchronize with the on-device calendar?

Travel Plan synchronizes with the calendar on your mobile device. In this fashion, the end user sees Travel Plan events as calendar entries without the need to open Travel Plan.

All calendar entries that fit in the dates of an already-created travel plan will pop up as entries or items in the travel plan. The calendar entry may not be modified.

I started a new trip, but I don’t see the name saved.

If you start a new trip, but do not save any items in the trip with dates, the trip will not be saved. In order for a trip to be saved, please go to the first screen of Travel Plan and hit “add new trip”. Then fill in the name of the new trip and hit “OK.” This does not mean the trip is saved yet, as you must now record at least one item in order for the trip to exist in Travel Plan. You will be taken to a screen with a list of “travel items” or events. Select any item on this screen and fill out form provided. You do not need to fill out all information, only the dates and basic information (such as the name of a hotel in the hotel screen) of that item in order for the trip to be saved in Travel Plan. Then hit “Done” and the trip will be saved. You will be able to fine this trip if you hit “My Trips” on the opening screen.

When I open Travel Plan, I don’t see the normal opening screen with “My Trips” and “Add New Trip”, but instead I see trip items I have already saved. I want to add a new trip—where do I go from here.

If you open Travel Plan on the day of a trip, you will automatically be taken to your list of trip items or events for your convenience. Just select “back” to go to the “List of trips” screen. On this screen, you may hit options to add a new trip, or you can go back one more screen and hit the green button “add new trip”.

My city is not on the list in any of the Travel Plan items. How do I add a city to the list?

If you open any of the event “items” when planning a trip, go to city where you will see a list of fields pertinent to that “item.” For example, if you open “Hotel” you will see a place to fill in the hotel name and the city. Hit city and you will open up to a new screen with a “Country” bar, a “City” bar and a field that says “Add city.” If you hit the “City” bar, you will see a city list where you can check to see whether or not your city is already listed. (At this point, make sure you are in the right country). If you do not get a match, hit cancel and then hit the “Add city” field. Here, a field will open where you should manually enter the city of your choice. The plug-in will also ask for permission to connect to the internet while it is checking the city you have entered with a world-wide city listing used by World Traveler. When the city appears on the following list, select it and hit “Done.” Your city is now included in your Travel Plan item, and it has also been added to the Travel Plan city list of that particular country.
